A CHURCH organist will pull out all the stops for charity as he attempts to play at every cathedral in England.
Christopher Nixon, who plays the organ every Sunday at Christ Church, Coatham, Redcar, will cover 2,000 miles, stopping off at 50 cathedrals.
The music teacher at Bankfields School, in Eston, will begin at Middlesbrough Cathedral on October 19 and hopes to finish a week later at Durham Cathedral, where he will play in a recital.
During the tour, in aid of BBC Children in Need, he will perform for about 20 minutes at venues such as as St Paul's, Westminster and Ripon Cathedrals.
In order to complete the challenge in time, he plans to fit in six or seven cathedrals a day.
Andrew Glover, managing editor of BBC Radio Cleveland, which is involved with the appeal, said: "What an idea. I'm delighted that Christopher has offered to assist us in raising much needed funds for BBC Children in Need."
Mr Nixon's progress can be followed on his own website at www.pulloutthestops.fsnet.co.uk
