A NORTH-EAST woman stuck in New York because of the terrorist attacks is desperate to get home to end her personal nightmare.
Lorraine Severn, 34, from Trimdon, County Durham, was due to fly back to the UK on Tuesday after a four-day break with friends. She visited the World Trade Centre the day before it was hit.
But events meant the Air India flight she was booked on was cancelled and has been unable to arrange alternative transport arrangements.
Miss Severn, who is due to start work for an US air freight company at Newcastle Airport, is staying in a hotel opposite Grand Central Station.
Speaking from her hotel room, she said: "On the day we just sat and watched it unfold on television and realised we weren't going anywhere for a few days."
