HISTORY was brought to life by a local artists for youngsters at a Darlington primary school.
Alex Grieve introduced year three pupils at St John's School to the art of brass rubbing on Monday.
After starting off with the basic skills, the seven-year-olds moved on to more complex pictures and artefacts from the Roman era.
The session helped to give the youngsters a greater understanding of Roman times, bringing the costumes and people to life.
Headteacher Christine Large said: "We are delighted that Mr Grieve was able to come into our school to share his skills with the children. It was a great opportunity for them to meet a real artist."
Pictures by the children can be seen on the school's website at www.stjohnsce.darlington.sch.uk
