THE search is on for unsung heroes and heroines who have helped their local communities in Weardale.
People are being asked to cast votes for people or organisations who have made important voluntary contributions to communities.
It will be the second time that the awards have been presented by the Weardale Society. The first winner was Bishop Auckland headteacher Judith Bainbridge, from Frosterley.
Leaflets asking people to nominate candidates for the latest round of award are available at shops, post offices and pubs in the dale.
The winner will be presented with the award in November.
