MURDER squad detectives investigating the murder of Sara Cameron have released more details about two men they need to trace to eliminate from their inquiries.
The men were at Longbenton Metro Station just before midnight on Thursday, April 20, 2000 - the evening before Sara's body was found yards from her home on North Tyneside.
The men have not come forward, despite several appeals for them to do so.
Police yesterday released enhanced video footage stills of the men who caught the Metro on which Sara was travelling that night.
Detective Superintendent Steve Bolam, who is leading the murder inquiry, said the men may have even sat in the same carriage, possibly passing her as they made their way along the train.
They left the Metro at some point between Longbenton and Whitley Bay.
A study of enhanced stills of video footage at Longbenton station shows a man crossing the tracks wearing a ski-type jacket, with a yellow body, black sleeves and yellow collar. It had a front zip which was causing some difficulty and he was also wearing black trousers and a dark short.
He was of slim to medium build with short dark hair, possibly receding, and was a cigarette smoker, probably left-handed.
The other man is slim to medium build with short dark hair and wore blue trousers or jeans and dark-coloured shoes.
Sara, a second year international sports management student, was murdered in a field 100 yards away from her home in Earsdon, North Tyneside, on the night she celebrated securing a work placement at the Sydney Olympics.
Anyone with information on the murder has been asked to call the incident room on 0191-214 6555, ext 63101 or 63100.
