DESIGNERS are being asked to develop a logo for a community centre which is due to open in Bishop Auckland next year.
The Four Clocks Project, costing £1.2m, is scheduled to be launched next April in the former Wesley Methodist Church, in Newgate Street.
Work has already started to convert the Grade-II listed building into a base for a wide range of groups and organisations, offering information, advice and support for all sections of the community.
Bishop Auckland College will have a learning shop on the ground floor and run the centre's caf as a training base for catering students.
Meeting and function rooms will be available for hire, and there will also be a creche.
The project, which is the idea of the Bishop Auckland Community Partnership, is named after the church's landmark clock tower.
The partnership is offering a £25 prizes to the artist who designs the best logo for the centre.
Entries, in no more than two colours, can be handed in to The Northern Echo's Bishop Auckland office, in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, until October 1.
The winning design will be chosen at a Four Clocks Open Day, in the Methodist church in Cockton Hill Road, on October 5, between noon and 2pm.
Project director Meg Brown said: "We are looking for a distinctive design which will capture the spirit of the centre."
She can be contacted for details on (01388) 609852.
