A PARTY of Norwegian councillors is making a brief stop in east Cleveland next week as part of a whistle-stop seven-day fact finding mission.
The eight members of Hordaland County Council will be greeted at the Innovat-ion Centre, in Kirkleatham Business Park, by Councillor David Walsh, leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, on Thursday, next week.
The delegation will be given a river trip around Teesport and a tour of the Britannia Biscuits factory, in South Bank, before engaging in an industrial development related discussion at Eston Town Hall.
The six-hour itinerary is part of a packed programme, which also includes trips to London, Newcastle and Scotland.
Coun Walsh said: "In many ways, Norway and this part of the North-East are very similar, with work based on staple industries.
"Now we are adapting into new areas and there will be a lot we can learn from the Norwegians and hopefully a lot they can learn from our experiences."
