A GANG of armed robbers attacked a female shop worker and stole a large amount of cash in a daring daytime raid yesterday.
Up to four men entered the Co-op store in Chain Lane, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, and stole cash boxes which were being delivered, at about 1.30pm.
One man is said to have been carrying a shotgun, while another had a baseball bat. No shots were fired, but a woman employee was attacked and slightly injured.
The gang escaped in a J-registered red Toyota Camry, which had been reported stolen in West Yorkshire on Wednesday. The car was later found abandoned and on fire in Manse Lane, Knaresborough.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police on (01423) 505541.
