HARTLEPOOL United's striking options could be boosted ahead of tomorrow's encounter with Kidderminster.
A goalless run of four games has seen shot-shy Pool fall to second bottom in the Division Three table and after Wednesday's loan capture of Middlesbrough's Anthony Ormerod, boss Chris Turner is hoping to make another signing today.
He is remaining tight-lipped over the player, but it won't be former Pool striker Steve Howard. He is out of favour at Luton after an on-field bust up in last week's win at York, but is set to return to his former club Northampton.
Striker Kevin Henderson is a big doubt for tomorrow after suffering concussion and being taken to hospital during Tuesday's woeful home defeat to Cheltenham, and with Ritchie Humphreys yet to find the net, Turner is desparate to boost his side's fire power.
He vowed: "We didn't create enough chances. The front lads worked hard but didn't really create anything. We looked to be out of sorts in certain areas of midfield. It's my responsibility to make some changes and to bring some new players in.
"We're second bottom of the league and on results we deserve to be. If you don't score goals you won't win games - you can't expect to hang on to a 0-0 every week.
"We need to create, we need to get on the end of things more. At Scunthorpe we had the ball in the penalty box 33 times and we only got on the end of six of them. I look at the stats after every game - we should have won at Scunthorpe, we should have won at Southend and we should have drawn on Tuesday.''
Turner issued a rallying call to players and fans, insisting: "I won't hide from any responsibility for the fact that we haven't had the start we require and the players won't hide.
"I'm not going to chuck two and a half years of hard work away in six weeks. I'll be coming out fighting and I'll be looking at the players to come out fighting."
Meanwhile, the Mill House Stand will reopen tomorrow after being closed for Tuesday's game.
l Darlington's Danny Mellanby believes the Quakers mustn't under-estimate basement club Exeter City whom they entertain at Feethams tomorrow. said Mellanby.
"I think you have to be careful not to under-estimate the bottom teams, and I expect Exeter will give us a hard game," he said.
