A TOWN centre pub will be able to stay open until 2am after winning an appeal over its entertainments licence.
The Black Bull Hotel, in Main Street, Ferryhill, can now open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, 12.30am on Sundays and 2am on Sundays before bank holidays.
Sedgefield Borough Council turned down the application in May because of the potential for disturbance in the early hours, following objections from residents.
Licensees Keith and Ann Cummings lodged an appeal and this week magistrates ruled in their favour.
Following the hearing, Mr Cummings said: "I am pleased with the result. It is good that Ferryhill people have this sort of facility on their own doorstep rather than have to spend their hard-earned money in Darlington, Bishop Auckland or Durham."
