THE Movers and Shakers of Derwentside have given the public of the area food for thought with an exhibition to help mark the 40th anniversary of Stanley Civic Hall.
Professional community arts group the Movers and Shakers worked with young people to come up with an exhibition of wall hangings and other exhibits based on the theme of food.
The exhibition is just one event taking place at the centre, which has recently undergone a £150,000 rewiring and redecoration, this weekend to mark its anniversary.
On Saturday, a gala celebration will include entertainment from the Gibside Singers, South Moor Operatic and Dramatic Society as well as dance and choral singing.
The night follows another highly successful exhibition from the celebrated Bishop Auckland-based artist Tom McGuinness, which came to an end recently.
Derwentside leisure services manager Sue Fox said: "The venue can be used for all sorts of purposes and is a major facility for the area. Our celebration night on Saturday should be something special."
