THE people of Redcar and east Cleveland have paid tribute to the thousands who died in America's recent terrorist attacks.
As a sign of respect the Redcar Cenotaph, on Coatham Road, was adorned with wreaths decked out in red, white and blue - the colours of the American flag.
It is now understood that more than 5,000 people - including 200 British citizens - were killed last Tuesday in the world's worst ever terrorist attack.
Councillor Vilma Collins, mayor of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, was the first person to sign the borough's Book of Condolence, set up in the wake of the American massacre.
Members of the public are invited to add their signatures to the Book of Condolence which can be found in the reception at Eston Town Hall during normal office hours.
