Sedgefield Borough Council opened its doors to local businesses this week to show how it provides various services to residents and firms within its boundary.
The 20 companies were also given information and advice about supplying products and services to the council.
Syd Howarth, vice-chairman of Sedgefield Borough Business Forum, said it had been interesting and informative, helping the firms to appreciate what went on behind the scenes.
The tour included a visit to the Chilton Community Force Centre, which houses the council's Community Force and Carelink schemes.
