FIREFIGHTERS from North Yorkshire will be urging pub-goers to give generously this evening.
Fire crews from Richmond, North Yorkshire, were among millions around the world shaken by the images from New York last week.
As a result, they have joined the international appeal for money to help the families of the American firefighters who lost their lives in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre.
Anyone who wants to contribute can leave donations at the fire station in Gallow- gate.
At least one of the town's appliances will also be in the Market Place this evening.
"The crew will be asking permission to go into local pubs where we will ask customers to put money in a fireman's wellie,'' said Firefighter Craig Miller.
