EIGHT Darlington men have set off on the gruelling 140 mile West to East coast cycle ride to raise money for Cancer Research.
The ride has been organised by Brendan Alexander, who will be driving the support vehicle, donated by Nobles and fuel given by Alexander-le-Skerne, with seven of his friends doing the actual cycling from Whitehaven to Sunderland.
They include Craig Henvey, Christopher Pierse, Andrew Watson, Ian Wilkinson, Wayne Spooner, Paul Sinclair and Melvin Conlan.
He explained that the group will be camping out over the weekend at places booked for the group along the route to Sunderland by Sherwoods.
"It's going to be a tough 140 miles, up and down all the way, but it's for a good cause. So far we've raised about £600, but we'd like to make it to £1,000," said Brendan
Anyone wanting to sponsor them or make a donation should contact Brendan on (01325) 381403 or 07850 650713.
