HOUSING Minister Lord Falconer visited Teesside housing estates to review progress on their regeneration yesterday.
Lord Falconer began his visit by meeting local politicians and the residents' group at the Robert Atkinson Centre, in Thornaby, before touring the Mandale, Allensway, Holmes and Middlefield Estates.
He went on to meet residents of the Portrack area, where the Warm Zones initiative is being piloted in a bid to provide money for heating in the borough of Stockton.
The minister's final stop was at the Ragworth Estate, where he met residents and discussed a range of topics.
Stockton South MP Dari Taylor used the visit as an opportunity to highlight the need for a housing management company to support the local auth- ority. She said: "We have to convince the minister that the local authority can deliver good quality housing, that they are supported by local people and that with investment from the Government, we really can make a difference to the people of Thornaby and Stockton."
