AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a stone was thrown from a school bus into the windscreen of a car.
Teachers at Lady Lumley's School in Pickering, North Yorkshire, are investigating after the stone was hurled at Nigel Francis's car.
Mr Francis informed police after the stone hit the windscreen in front of his face as he drove his wife and two-year-old son home to Otley from a holiday in Scarborough.
He said: "We were pretty shocked. It was lucky my windscreen did not break and that there was no one behind us.
"Somebody could have been killed."
North Yorkshire County Council operates three double-decker buses for Lady Lumley's School.
Deputy headteacher Trevor Boag said: "I can confirm it was a student travelling on a school bus that was involved.
"I am very concerned about this incident and we will identify who was involved and we will take action in the proper way.
"We have a code of conduct agreed by the pupils in school council and the students know we will follow this up."
