A SCHOOL is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an exhibition.
Hurworth Comprehensive School, near Darlington, opened on September 26, 1961. To mark the milestone, an exhibition has been created at the school.
Staff stayed back after school last night to set up the anniversary display, which will be viewed by children as they arrive for their lessons today.
Teacher Rita Rees said the anniversary will be a low key affair, but said: "We have got all sorts of pictures, including some of ex-staff, showing things that have happened at the school over the past 40 years."
Many of the items for the display have been provided by Brian and Anne Johnson.
Mr Johnson is a former member of staff, who worked at the school on the first day it opened.
Any former pupils or teachers who would like to see the display is asked to contact the school on (01325) 720424 to arrange a visit.
