FORMER Olympic medallist Lord Sebastion Coe shared the platform with former Conservative leader William Hague MP at a gathering in Thirsk.
The evening was a celebration to mark the achievement of students who had won their county sports colours. It was organised by Hambleton and Richmondshire school sports association and held in Thirsk school.
An audience of parents, PE teachers, Mr John Dennis and Miss Cynthia Welbourne from North Yorkshire County Council, watched the students enjoy words of encouragement from the two guests.
Richmond MP Mr Hague urged the students to maintain contact with sports and praised their teachers, volunteers and parents for their support
