YOUNG stars and generous sponsors are needed to turn an ambitious youth theatre project into reality.
Dionysis Theatre Company was launched earlier this month and needs young singers, dancers and actors in the North-East to take part in a £25,000 production of 42nd Street next year.
The project will be one of the first performances at Durham City's new Gala theatre and the organisers hope it will be a showcase for young talent in the area. But the company needs backing to bring plans to fruition.
Tomorrow a family disco at Spennymoor Town Hall should kick-start the fund-raising.
One of the organisers Chris Banks, from Middlestone Moor, County Durham said: "We're applying for charity status, but we are issuing a plea for anybody who would like to back the show.
"It's an all-singing, all-dancing show that will be a brilliant opportunity for young talent in the area."
Auditions and workshops are expected to take place in Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle next year. Contact Joanne Banks on (01388) 420210 for more information.
