COMPUTER experts are helping to create the world's tallest statue.
Ten members of staff from Sunderland technical solutions firm, Leighton, are working with consultancy group Mott MacDonald to build a 500ft Buddha in India.
The statue will be constructed from more than 6,000 bronze panels and is expected to take five years to complete.
It will cost £130m and has been funded by donations from Buddhists around the world. The project will include a complex of temples, schools and public areas.
Leighton has provided Mott MacDonald with software which allows every member of the project team to access up-to-date information on the development
