MORE than 65 millin years ago they roamed the planet, but now they are to meander around a North-East city.
The stars of BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs series, including deinonychus, velociraptors and, of course, the tyrannosaurus rex, are to be brought back to life at Newcastle's Hancock Museum.
Visitors to the museum will be able to see the models that were used in the award-winning documentary series that was shown in 45 countries around the world.
Curator of the museum Steve McLean said: "Visitors will be able to look at how one of the most amazing television programmes ever made was created.
"As well as showing how the dinosaurs were brought back to life by combining fossils and expert knowledge with the latest technology, visitors will be able to see some incredible exhibits including models of creatures used in the film Jurassic Park."
Walking with Dinosaurs opens at the Hancock Museum on Barras Bridge, near the Haymarket, on Saturday, October 13 and can be seen until February 24.
The museum is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, 2pm to 5pm. Admission is £3.95 for adults and £2.95 for children and concessions. Family tickets cost £12.50. Call 0191-222 7417 for details.
