NHS Trust staff are using a new free advice and counselling helpline to talk about their personal problems.
In the first quarter-year of its operation, 54 people contacted the South Durham Health Care NHS Trust helpline, which offers counselling and information on issues, including employment and financial or legal matters.
Although the take-up of the service has been slightly below average for the type of programme, the trust is pleased with the response.
Angela Lamb, the trust's director of personnel, said problems at home or work could have a detrimental effect on a person's health and their ability to cope at work.
"This service provides a source of confidential and independent advice and support to our employees and their families and we hope that out staff continue to make use of it," she said.
