A PROGRAMME of summer walks comes to a close with an eight-mile coastal trek on Sunday.
National Trust warden Peter Collins will lead the Pier to Pier Ramble between the mouths of the rivers Wear and Tyne.
The walk is along the Sunderland to South Shields coastal path, and includes free transport back to the starting point.
It is the last event in a series of countryside and conservation activities in the Wearside area, organised by Sunderland City Council's environment department.
Pre-booking is required for the walk, which begins at Roker Pier shortly after 10am. Participants, who should meet at the Roker Harbour car park at 10am, are advised to take a packed lunch.
Anyone interested in taking part is asked to contact Andrew Bewick, on 0191-553 1555
