ACTION is being taken to tackle poor lighting in streets in Hartlepool.
The problem in Coatham Drive, Meadow Drive and Valley Close is caused by the age of the lamps and lampposts.
The lighting is to be improved by removing all but the bottom section of each of the 17 lampposts and adding a new column, with a new lamp on top.
The work will be done within the next four to six weeks and will take a maximum of three days.
The £3,000 cost will be met by Hartlepool Borough Council central neighbourhood forum's minor works budget.
