TWO men are to appear at Newcastle Crown Court charged with the attempted murder of a man found in a pub toilet with severe burns.
Dominic Younger, 29, and Robert Iley, 52, both of Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street, appeared before Peterlee magistrates yesterday, when the hearing was adjourned to Newcastle Crown Court on October 18.
They have each been charged with the attempted murder of Barry McCann, 36, who remains in a critical condition at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Mr McCann, 36, had been attending a family christening at the Warriors Arms pub, at Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street, when he was found lying in the gents toilet suffering from severe burns and possible internal injuries. Mr Younger and Mr Iley were both granted conditional bail.
