AN Air Training Corps has got a new banner, 53 years after its last one was paraded.
Darlington Mayor's Charity Fund Committee paid for the new banner for the town's training corps.
The squadron was set up in 1941 and photographs from the 1950s show that it has not paraded with a banner for more than half a century.
Before the banner could be paraded it had to receive Gods blessing and the squadron chaplain, the Rev Colin Linguard and the vicar of St John's Church, the Rev Judith Howes, carried this service.
The blessing was on Wednesday September 19 and was attended by cadets, staff, committee and family from Darlington and other local Air Training Corps Squadrons.
The Squadron Banner Party was led by Flight Sergeant Fraser Gall and escorted by Sergeant Philip Buxton and Sergeant Beth Thomas.
Darlington's Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant Mark Singer RAFVR(T), commanded the parade .
After the Service, the guests were invited back to the TA Centre on Neasham Road for a reception.
The new banner will next be used during the Remberance Day Parade and Service in November.
