In the Premier League Billingham Wanderers move into third place when they smashed six goals in without reply against Blackhall Hardwick.
This derby started at a fast pace and after 15 minutes Mark Steel was tripped and Harry Davies made no mistake from the spot to give the visitors Billingham the lead.
Ten minutes later a good corner from Jackie O'Reilly was flicked on by Steve Powell for Keith Corner to head home.
After the break Billingham took complete control and Corner scored from close range after a Steel cross.
Then Steel scored two quick goals after posing all manner of problems.
In the dying minutes Neil Sullivan scored from close range to ensure a demolition 6-0 victory. Man of the match was ex-Rotherham United midfielder Gerry Forrest and striker Steel was outstanding.
Now Billingham go into another derby at Norton against Ferryhill Greyhound (10.30am) tomorrow when manager Ray Morton hopes to have both ex-Boro Charlie Bell and leading scorer Keith Aldridge available.
In division one Mrs Flint's Pirates drew 1-1 away to Sedgefield. The Pirates took the lead after 30 minutes from Alan Gates but Sedgefield defended solidly and the Pirates were unable to increase their scoreline. Sedgefield levelled with five minutes remaining through John Barber. Alan Gates, centre back Joe Curry and John Murray were Pirates' stars.
Langley Park Rams Head came back to form by winning 3-1 away to the unbeaten Grindon Broadway.
Rams led 3-0 at the interval. Alan Forster grabbed a brace and Jimmy Taylor one. Grindon's keeper Ralph Tully usually brilliant faltered under the Rams heavy pressure and made errors which the Rams were quick to take advantage of. The restart saws Rams still in control and although Grindon pulled one back through Ian Clayton the issue was never in doubt. For Rams keeper Micky Stephenson and Davy Hancock starred.
Newton Aycliffe in division two are still unbeaten. They are joint top on points and defeated Roker Queen Vic 4-1 at home. The first half was fairly even, Robin Kell put Aycliffe in front, but Queen Vic levelled to make it 1-1 at half time. After the restart Aycliffe took control and goals from Geoff Peaden, Kell and Colin Smith saw them win easily.
Newly-promoted Cleveland Bridge seem to be a different side from last season and are struggling badly. They lost 7-1 away to the leading Barnes Hotel.
In division three Consett are in fine form and lead the division. They are still unbeaten and won 3-1 away to Taylors. Scorers for Consett, John Maurice, Roe, Tyres and Fred McAlone.
West Cornforth improved to win 2-0 at home against Rockcliffe Arms.
In division four Darlington Railway lost their unbeaten record losing 3-2 away to the Dagmar.
Trimdon Veterans drew 2-2 at home to the Sportsmans Arms. They led 2-0 at the interval. Sportsmans saw Keith Young spot kick saved by Trimdon's keeper, but after the restart Trimdon turned and fell away, Peter Crawford scored with a fancy back header from a corner by John Younghusband and in the closing stages Trimdon conceded an own goal to give Sportsmans a share of the points.Sunderland Catholic Club.
