CHRISTMAS preparations are well under way in Guisborough.
At a meeting of the Town Council last week, plans for the festivities were discussed.
Last year, Westgate was decorated with lights as well as a huge tree, and it is hoped that this year's the lights will be bigger and brighter.
The town council works in partnership with Guisborough Business Association to provide the lights and has been holding a series of fundraising events to raise the money.
The council has also joined forces with the business association, the police and the Round Table to provide a late-night shopping event in the town on December 4. The event will include a best window display and fancy dress competition. The Round Table also hopes to put up mini Christmas trees around the town and schools are being encouraged to take part in a carol concert, on December 12, at St Nicholas' Church.
