Thirsk Falcons
THE Under-12s were thankful to Robbie Fountain whose brace helped his team to a 4-0 over Northallerton.
Northallerton started brightly and were unfortunate not to take the lead when a header was only foiled by the home crossbar.
However, midway through the half Fountain latched on to Young's through ball to race clear and coolly slot beyond the advancing keeper for 1-0.
Despite Northallerton's endeavours an equaliser was not forthcoming. Three minutes before half time Falcons obtained full control when Nick Dixon doubled the lead sending a fierce low drive into the bottom corner of the net.
Eventually the points were secured as Duncan Padgett's presence panicked a defender into lashing a well struck shot into his own net.
The final 15 minutes were played out almost entirely in the visitors' half and it came as no surprise when Falcons fourth goal arrived courtesy of Fountain's 15-yard strike into the roof of the goal to complete his brace and Thirsk's triumph. Man of the man was awarded to Thomas Burrell.
Brompton
THE Under-13s travelled to Dales Diamonds and produced an excellent team performance, coming away with an emphatic win.
Last season's top scorer Stephan Pearson showed every sign that he is determined to do even better this time around by scoring a double hat-trick.
Further goals were added by John Henry and a 40 yards scorcher from Peter Starr, with the final score at 8-0. Man of the match went to Stuart Dunn who illustrated the overall team performance that led to this fine win.
Hungry Jacks
There were mixed fortunes for Hungry Jacks over the weekend. On Saturday they entertained Bedale in a League game and stormed into a 4-0 at half time lead. In the second half Bedale pulled goal back from the penalty spot. Hungry Jacks created many more chances, but only managed one more goal; goals from Daniel Fox (4) and Daniel Wright secured a very impressive 5-1 victory. Man of the Match was James Collinge.
On Sunday Hungry Jacks travelled to Chilton to play Spennymoor Boys in the Durham Cup. Hungry Jacks were trailing 2-0 at half time. In the second half Hungry Jacks dominated the game, but conceded an early goal. Daniel Fox pulled one back to make it 3-1. Spennymoor Boys held out under extreme pressure from Hungry Jacks to win the game 3-1.
