A TOY library scheme is to be set up in east Cleveland to service all parts of the borough.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership plans to create the Government-funded lending system to complement the national childcare strategy and the work of the Government-backed Sure Start programme. Both schemes aim to boost play opportunities for the under-fives.
Parents were consulted on what kind of toys and equipment they would like to see, how popular they thought the service would be and their attitude towards charges.
Lesley Sanderson, Lead Development Officer for Redcar and Cleveland Early Years and Child Development Partnership, said: "We are delighted to receive such positive feedback to the proposed toy and equipment library from parents and carers. It is now up to the partnership to work with other organisations and the council's libraries department in order to get the service up and running. Watch this space!"
