Chester's won their first match in two seasons when they beat Birtley St Josephs 3-2 at home.
Birtley were ahead with a goal from Mark Perry. Chesters kept chasing the game and were rewarded with an equaliser by Glen Jackson. After the break Jackson and Gavin Brown scored for Chesters, with Leighton Armstrong replying.
Whitehill won 2-1 at home to Seaham The Duke, Michael Pitt scored two in the first half. The Duke missed a penalty when Colin Bell saved John Pinder's shot. But Michael Watson did pull a goal back for the Duke with a spot-kick.
Herrington CW beat Ebchester FC away, with goals from Michael Patterson (2), Michael Dunkin and Neil Forster. Neil Swainston pulled one back.
Westwood won 5-2 at home to Wylam Vale Celtic with goals from Chris Lindstedt, Ian Tindle, Chris Hannah, Daniel Knight and Darren Young. Phil Murray and Frazer McGowan replied for Wylam.

Hartlepool Boys Welfare banged in eight goals against Durham Victoria Bridge who lost their first game of the season. Hartlepool went 1-0 up in three minutes through Stewart Cooper who scored again later. Durham keeper Shaun Laing was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area and Hartlepool punished their opponents through James Parkinson (2), sub Michael Gough (2), Jeff Cooper and Stuart Gregg.
Belford House beat Seaham Mallard 7-1. Scorers were Cameron Marshall(2), Mark Green, Stuart Burton, Robbie Soppitt and Kenny Taylor for Belford. Martin Deacon for the Mallard.
Simonside went through to the next round winning 3-2 against BHD Windows. Daniel Harminson, Paul Smith and Ray Coats hit the winners while Tommy Wilkinson (2) replied. New Birtley and Hilda Park crashed out of the competition 5-0 at home to Springwell Village. Goals scored by Andrew Charlton (2) and Mark Kirtley (3).
