A ROMANIAN asylum seeker accused of obtaining goods by deception from high streeet banks has been remanded in custody.
Vali Costinal Maria, 32, is said to have obtained £105 by deception from the NatWest Bank, in Newton Aycliffe, on September 25. He faces further charges of attempting to obtain £125 from the town's HSBC Banke, and cash from the NatWest in Ferryhill.
Sedgefield magistrates refused an application for bail. Maria, of Weedon Road, Northampton, will reappear on October 1.
