PARENTS and carers will be encouraged to leave their cars at home and walk their children to school this week.
Darlington Borough Council hopes parents across the town will take part in Walk to School week, which is held every year.
This year, the council has secured the support of former England cricket captain Ian Botham, who will be visiting the town tomorrow.
He will visit North Road Primary School and walk one pupil home.
The council aims to reduce traffic congestion fuel emissions around schools during the initiative, and encourage car sharing.
