RESIDENTS have been saluted as heroes, after two people were rescued from a house fire.
Cleveland Chief Fire Officer John Doyle presented framed gallantry certificates to neighbours Mark and Daniel Gill, David Northend, Sharon and Gerard McIntyre and Peter Dalrymple, who rescued a woman from a kitchen fire after breaking down the front door of her house in Surrey Street, Middlesbrough, in June. Firefighters saved her brother.
A spokesman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "Their actions were over and above what would normally be expected from members of the public. They worked hard to smash their way in and perform a rescue.
