A BULL terrier faces a death sentence after it attacked four people in a takeaway.

The dog forced its way into the Pei Myn chop suey house in Thornaby, Teesside, on Sunday night.

A 14-year-old girl was rushed to the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton, after being savaged.

The bull terrier terrorised ten people in the shop in Thorntrees Road, before witnesses backed the animal into a nearby telephone box and barricaded it there until its owners arrived.

A police spokeswoman said last night that the eight-month-old dog would be destroyed, but that its owners were not being charged with any offences.

Witness Claire Noble, 23, from Thornaby, said that the 14-year-old girl had been chased by the dog and was banging on the door of the takeaway, screaming to be let in because the animal was attacking her.

Miss Noble said: "She was screaming 'get it off me'. The dog just wouldn't let go."

Customers inside the shop tried to open the door and rescue the girl, but the dog got inside the takeaway and continued attacking her.

The teenager was treated for her injuries but was released from hospital yesterday.

Miss Noble, who was buying a meal with friend Leanne Smalls, was also attacked by the dog, which bit her on the wrist.

She said: "I was shaking when I got inside the shop. A woman pulled up the girl's trouser leg and there was blood all down her leg."
