CHILDREN, staff and governors at a Newton Aycliffe primary school are celebrating after being awarded a Quality Mark.
Sue Collier, headteacher of Vane Road Primary School, and the chairwoman of governors, Janet Lawrence, were presented with the award by Alan Wells, director of the Basic Skills Agency, in a ceremony held at County Hall, Durham.
The award has been given to the school in recognition of its work to teach and develop basic skills.
Pupils were each given a badge and bookmark to mark the achievement, and senior inspector Mike Pinch presented the school with a plaque
