CHILDREN on a Teesside estate will have a safer walk to school once new footpaths are laid next to a busy road.
Stockton Borough Council has received numerous requests for safety measures since the Kingsmead estate was built, close to Allens West station in Eaglescliffe.
Children walking from the estate have to cross busy Durham Lane to cross the railway line, then cross the road again to get Egglescliffe comprehensive and the two primary schools.
Railtrack has carried out improvement works and the council decided to lay the footpaths at a cost of £30,000.
