BUDDING writers can display their talents in an annual literary competition.
The Sid Chaplin Short Story Competition attracts entries from all over the country as writers compete for the award, which was launched 15 years ago by Shildon Town Council.
This year, entrants are being asked to use good and evil as their theme.
The winner will receive £300, runner-up £150 and third placed writer £75. Prizes will also be awarded for best entries from junior writers of different age groups.
Entries should be sent to: Shildon Town Council, Civic Hall Square, Shildon, County Durham. DL4 1AH, by January 31st. Entry forms are available at local libraries or by telephoning (01388) 772563.
