STUDENTS at a Newton Aycliffe school won a host of medals at a sports festival for youngsters with physical and sensory difficulties.
Woodham Community Technology College pupils won ten gold, five silver and five bronze medals in the event at Spennymoor Leisure Centre.
Learning support assistant Sara Robinson and Tracy Lindsay were involved in preparing the Woodham team for the event.
They organised the children, informed the parents and arranged packed lunches.
Woodham PE teacher Nicola Mangles drafted in year 11 students to help on the day.
The Woodham participants were Samantha Barnes, Laura Adcock and Ross Burns (all year eight), Michael Gedling (year eight), Timothy Gardner, Kieron Walker, Lee Atkinson and James Moor (year ten), Debbie Brand and Chris Young (year 11).
The students were presented with their medals by the Mayor of Spennymoor, Councillor George Gray.
Sue McTague, learning support coordinator at Woodham, praised the pupils, saying: "This was a well organised, enjoyable event, giving pupils who do not usually get a chance to represent the school and win some medals."
