AT the Tyneside 10-mile road race Bob Davison was the only Shildon runner on a windswept course between Hexham and Ovingham along the Tyne Valley.
Bob had a much improved run to finish in 28th position just missing out on the third over 50 prize in a time of 64.20.
The winner was Stewy Bell of Chester-le-Street AC in 53.20 with Durham City AC Ian Crampton second in 54.54 and Brad Simpson of North Shields Poly AC third in 55.59, the winner of the ladies race was Sheila Allen (Houghton and Peterlee AC) in 62.27, who completed a hat-trick of victories.
The club's middle distance group have resumed their training session at the Stadium 2000 which run in two cross country leagues during the winter months.
The club caters for age groups from eight years upwards, everyone is welcome to come and try with no obligation to join. The club's spring section, which compete at the indoor meetings through the winter months, will start their training sessions in early October, more details later.

Harriers
ON A wet and windy day four Harriers travelled to Carlisle to compete in the Cumbrian half-marathon. First harrier home was John Rymer in 1:26.43 with Dave Jones 25 seconds behind.
Harry Gamble-Thompson ran 1:36.50 with his daughter Helen Humphrey in 1:41.58. Harry's son Mark finished third in the Langham 10kms road race in 35.14 at Nottingham.
Di and Graham Hall ran 2:07 in the Nottingham Robin Hood half-marathon. Paul Welham ran 59.21 in the Tynedale 10-miler.
