SCHOOLS, businesses and households are being asked to recycle rubbish to help unwanted animals.
Sally Rowley, from the Weardale Sanctuary, near Stanhope, is appealing for people to save waste aluminium foil and cans which can be recycled to raise money for the rescue centre.
The centre is also appealing for the donation of a large bin or skip which can be used to collect the refuse.
Wear Valley District Council is considering setting up sites in Crook, Bishop Auckland and Willington where the bins can be placed.
Sally said: "But until we can find some collection points, then we'll collect it."
