A CAMPAIGN to build a new swimming pool in Redcar will take an important step forward this weekend.
Parents, politicians and enthusiasts have formed Get Redcar A Swimming Pool (Grasp) in an attempt to push the plan forward.
The group will hold its inaugural meeting on Saturday, at 1pm, at the Coatham Memorial Hall, Coatham Road. The new committee, chaired by Redcar MP Vera Baird, hopes to establish the group's aims.
It believes public input is essential if the town is to have a swimming pool that meets everyone's needs.
Grasp has identified a demand for use by both disabled and able-bodied people. Any new pool must also meet the needs of youngsters learning to swim.
Frankie Wales, of Grasp, said: "It is essential that as many people as possible attend this meeting, as there is still a long way to go.
