Bishop Auckland League - Bishop Auckland King's Head inflicted a rare defeat on the visiting leaders, Crook Olde Horse Shoe when they edged through to an odd point success.

The King's had two singles points from Malcolm Parry, Warren Stamp and John Searle, whilst the Shoe replied with two points from Steve Hunter and Stephen Liddle. The visitors then closed the gap when Richard Walker and Cliff Owens took the doubles point. The match as levelled when Gavin Witton took the first captain's game but Stephen Bainbridge took his revenge in the second when he won to take his team to victory.

St. Helens Wheatsheaf put up a sterling performance at home to Bishop Auckland Football Club but just went down in the decider. The Wheatsheaf had two points from Alan Young and David Bradshaw whilst Jimmy Whymer added one. The Football Club levelled with two points from Craig Lumley and Lee Taylor, whilst Danny Parker added one. The visitors took the doubles point when Danny Parker and Craig Lumley won. The Wheatsheaf then equalised when Alan Young took the first captain's game against Lee Taylor, who took his revenge when he won the decider.

Tow Law League

Tow Law Rose and Crown came within a point of a great away victory over the leaders, Tow Law Station. Shaun Umpelby put the Station ahead but then Anthony Ward and Lee Mowbray moved the visitors ahead. Malcolm Umpelby levelled the match only to see Chris Bowes restore the Rose and Crown's lead. Steven Maughan pulled the Station level by taking the final singles. The home side took two of the three doubles to clinch an odd point victory.

The resignation of Billy Row Royal George has made a big change to the table, where the Station lead by 15 points from Tow Law Black Horse, who have a match in hand. Tow Law New Market B trail the Horse by two points.

Tow Law New Market A were looking for their first win of the season when they visited Hamilton Row Black Horse but they only succeeded in taking the first singles through Gavin Tennant and the final doubles through Phil Spencer and Bob Plews. The home side had singles wins from Doug Moffat, Barry Sims, Derek Graham, Mick Thompson and Steve Wilkie.

The second half of the summer season started with a local derby match, the Langley Moor Hotel Football Club were hosts to the Langley Moor Hotel.

The Footballers started the match by winning all but one of the single games through Brian Newman, David Clark Jnr, A. Barry, Dean Taylor, and Alan Burnham. Only Arthur Henderson scored for the Hotel. The first frame of the pairs was an endurance contest, with two red and two yellow balls traffic-lighted over a corner pocket. It took nearly an hour before brothers John and Adam Farrel won the frame for the Hotel. Dereck Mlynski with Arthur Henderson also scored for the visitors. Neil Holmes with Dean Taylor won the final pairs for the Footballers, and Brian Newman secured the Footballers captain's game.
