A GREEN charity is hoping to make Derwentside a more colourful place next spring.
The Delves Lane-based Acorn Trust is giving away bulbs to ten local community groups, who devise imaginative planting designs.
A spokesman for the trust said: "The project aims to involve as many of Derwentside's communities as possible in a group effort to plant daffodil bulbs in a variety of different designs decided by the community.
"Bulbs will be given to ten groups. All the groups have to do is find a place to plant and come up with an imaginative design.
"Acorn Trust will be there to offer help with designs and planting, as well as the loan of tools and safety equipment on the day.''
The deadline for applications is Friday, October 19 and the winning entries will be selected the following week. Planting will take place between Friday, October 26, and Sunday, November 18.
