A TELEPHONE box, which has attracted youngsters to congregate on a village green, will not be moved.
Complaints had been received about the position of the telephone box on The Green, in Hurworth.
A spokesman for Hurworth Parish Council said: "A resident of The Green has raised, as an issue, the location of the telephone box on The Green, which was attracting youths who allegedly were causing a nuisance and indicating that a more suitable location would be appropriate."
But community police officers told the council that, although complaints had been received about the youths, they were only causing a minor nuisance, and many had moved on when asked to do so.
The parish council had previously approved the location of the telephone box and, at a recent meeting, decided that there should be no application to move it, as this could simply move the problem to another place.
