A COMMUNITY survey to find out how best to improve Delves Lane, near Consett, will be carried out in the coming weeks.
Residents will be asked what improvements they would like to see in the community.
A village model has been made, painted by pupils at Delves Lane Junior School, to help aid discussion on the issue.
The model will be taken around several venues in the village. The move follows a similar successful idea in nearby Annfield Plain.
Derwentside District Council has commissioned Durham Rural Community Council to conduct the survey.
Coordinator Gillian Fortune said: "Using the village model is an excellent way of involving residents in putting forward their ideas, and has proved successful in other villages.
"It is important that as many community members as possible come along to these events. If they don't, their ideas will not be heard."
The discussion events will be held at Delves Lane Infants School on Friday, October 12, between 2pm and 4pm; Delves Lane Junior School, on Monday, October 15, from 2pm to 4pm; Percy Gardens Communal Rooms, on Monday, October 22, from 2pm to 6pm; Delves Lane Village Hall, on Wednesday, October 24, from 3pm to 7pm; and Greenways Court, on Wednesday, October 31, from 2pm to 7pm.
