Sedgefield Borough Business Service (SBBS) has launched the Borough's Practical Guide to Starting Up in Business. The guide aims to aid individuals through the steps of starting up in business and improving their chances of success.
Based on the extensive knowledge of the SBBS business advisors, The Practical Guide will be used in conjunction with one-to-one guidance and counseling from the SBBS team. As well as containing useful information and contacts, the guide also prompts the reader to ask pertinent questions - Do you have the skills and strengths to run your own business? Have you fully researched your business idea? Are there issues that have been overlooked?
Pauline Bliss, from new start Bliss Mobile Dog Grooming company, present at the guide launch, said: "I approached the SBBS Small Firms team earlier this year, after a client recommended their start-up in business service to me. The help and advice I have received since has made a big difference to my business. Without their advice and support on business planning, projecting cashflows and basic accounts, I would certainly not have got this far."
Hazel Coates, owner of Cottage Curtains, said, "I have received ten years of support from the Small Firms team. The team are always welcoming and the guide will complement the work that is already undertaken."
John Litherland, director of planning and technical services, and Bill Waters, cabinet member for regeneration at Sedgefield Borough Council, presented the Practical Guide to an audience of local businesses at the Shildon Business Centre Development, on Dabble Duck Industrial Estate.
If you are thinking of starting your own business and would like to find out more contact the Small Firms Team at Shildon Business Centre, Dabble Duck Industrial Estate, Shildon DL4 2RF.
