YOUNGSTERS have been displaying their artistic tendencies - with a bit of help from the professionals. Rural Arts North Yorkshire, which is based at Thirsk, called in artist Margaret Murphy to help youngsters from Haxby and Wigginton, near York, complete a mosaic of the solar system. The project was part of York's Creative Communities 2000 initiative, and was carried out by youngsters from the local primary schools and youth clubs. It is to be used as the floor of a shelter on the Ethel Ward Playing Fields, in Haxby, and will be installed later this month.
