A PARTY of Russian visitors have included Whitby's new £6m sewage works on their list of must-see places, alongside the famous Abbey and museum.
The delegation from Balaclava are spending several days in the town and took a tour of the Broomfield Farm works yesterday.
The sewage works were completed earlier this year as part of a multi-million pound project to end the decades-old practice of pumping raw sewage out to sea. Yorkshire Water's area sewerage manager, David Williamson, said they had been taking groups around the site since construction began, though never from abroad before.
